Equilibrium > Disruption > New Equilibrium
I have applied this theory to Shrek the 2nd.
1) Equilibrium - The scene opens and introduces the characters and the scenery immediately. And even though this is part of a sequal, it follows Tondorov's theory still. It introduces everything nicely and sets the scene.
2) A disruption - Fiona's parents are shocked that their daughter has married an ogre, which offends shrek. The fairy godmother intervenes and makes things worst. Then shrek takes some magic potion which makes him human, then the other prince charming then pretends to be shrek and convinces Fiona he is the real Shrek.
3) A recognition - Fiona realises that Shrek is missing and asks her father for help.
4) An attempt to repair the damage - While the royal ball begins, several of Shrek's friends band together to free the trio and create a gigantic gingerbread man (Mongo), which breaks through the castle's defenses so Shrek can stop Charming from kissing Fiona. He is too late to stop them; instead of falling in love with Charming, though, Fiona knocks him out with a headbutt. Harold reveals that he never gave Fiona the love potion, whereupon the Fairy Godmother attacks Shrek.
5) A new equilibrium - As the clock strikes midnight, Shrek and Fiona let the potion's effects wear off and they revert to their ogre selves, while Donkey reluctently changes back as well. Harold gives his blessing to the marriage and apologizes for his earlier behavior, and the party resumes as the credits begin.
